New Comedy Show, Superstar Opry Appearances on tap for Summertime at the Opry
Pickin’ & Grinnin’ With Mike Snider: A Grand Ole Comedy Revue Launches in Opry House’s Studio A June 25
One of country music’s funniest guys and a bevy of country superstars are ready to make the summer at the Grand Ole Opry a memorable one for tourists and Music City residents alike.
Funnyman Mike Snider will star in Pickin’ & Grinnin’ in historic Studio A at the Opry House Wednesdays – Saturdays June 25 – July 25. Audiences will revel in the “pickin’” of the former Tennessee and National Banjo Playing Champion and will be “grinnin’” thanks to Snider’s unique brand of country storytelling and laugh-along tunes such as “The Fur Coat” and “Born to Shop.”
The show will be a return to Studio A for Snider, who filmed HEE HAW there 20 years ago alongside some of country music’s most beloved personalities including greats such as Minnie Pearl and Grandpa Jones. Snider, the pride of Gleason, Tennessee (2,000 Gleason residents were on hand for his Opry debut) will be joined for Pickin’ & Grinnin’ by his multi-talented band and magician Scott Cantrell.
“We’re going to have a good time every time,” Snider says. “It’s going to be great to fill Studio A with some laughs and some good down home pickin again. And if a joke bombs, I’ll just ask the magician to make me disappear.”
Pickin’ & Grinnin’ complements a star-packed summer schedule of Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday Grand Ole Opry shows. Among those already scheduled for Opry summertime appearances are Trace Adkins (June 9); Dierks Bentley (July 28, August 18); Charlie Daniels Band (June 9, July 21, 28); Alison Krauss (June 19, 20); Montgomery Gentry (Opry Induction June 23); Charley Pride (June 12, 13); Wynonna (June 27); Carrie Underwood (June 9, July 25).
